VEHICLE SCRAPPAGE POLICY REVISION
INDIAN Government has decided to bring VEHICLE SCRAPPAGE POLICY REVISION, where some new norms for Vehicle Scrappage might be introduced. As per the current Vehicle Scrappage Policy, the vehicle scrappage date is decided by the Vehicle Registration Age. That means if you haven’t driven your vehicle yet, that vehicle will still be scraped according to the Vehicle Type and the Vehicle Registration Age as per the Current VEHICLE SCRAPPAGE POLICY.

NEW VEHICLE SCRAPPAGE POLICY REVISION
Now as per the NEW SCRAPPAGE POLICY REVISION, the vehicle scrappage will not decided by its Registration Age instead it is decided as per the Vehicle Two Key Factors:
- Vehicle Fitness Test
- Vehicle Emission Levels
1. Vehicle Fitness Test: This Vehicle Fitness Test Determines – if a vehicle is roadworthy and meets the safety, environmental, and operational standards of Road Transportation.
2. Vehicle Emission Levels: The Emission Levels refer to the amount of pollutants or harmful gases that a vehicle releases into the atmosphere through its exhaust.
Requirement for VEHICLE SCRAPPAGE POLICY REVISION
Suppose your car is 15 years old but still running in good condition, your car is well maintained with a regular maintenance check and also the car pollution is under control, still there any sense in scraping your well-maintained car?
As per the Current VEHICLE SCRAPPAGE POLICY, the intentions of the government are good to remove polluting vehicles from the roads so that India’s carbon footprint gets reduced. But there is NO sense in scrapping a vehicle that is well maintained and already has the pollution emitted under control. This current vehicle scrappage policy enforces the SCRAPPAGE of Polluting vehicles along with Non-Poluting Vehicles.
