EV vs. Petrol: Which Should You Choose?

EV vs. Petrol Nexon

This is a simple question that every new buyer needs to know. If you want to buy a car and are too confused about which car you should buy: Electric or Petrol. Then here is the answer that simplifies your queries and helps you out the most.

India’s popular electric car “Tata Nexon EV” starts at the price of INR 15 lakhs and the same variant of Tata Nexon Petrol” comes with a value of  INR 8.5 lakhs. That means Tata Nexon EV is more Expensive than Tata Nexon Petrol with a difference of INR 6.5 lakh.

Indian-currency-229793-pixahive EV vs. Petrol: Which Should You Choose?

Tata Nexon EV – 15 lakhs INR

Tata Nexon Petrol – 8.5 lakhs INR

15 lakhs – 8.5 lakhs = 6.5 lakhs (Saving)

For EV vs. Petrol, now you can say that  Tata Nexon EV’s running cost would be INR 1 for 1km and Tata Nexon’s petrol running cost would be INR 6 for 1km and with this, you are Saving INR 5 to run 1km in  Tata Nexon EV.

Tata Nexon EV – 1 INR for 1km

Tata Nexon Petrol – 6 INR for 1km

Saving = 5 INR for 1km (Tata Nexon EV)

So to overcome the price of the Tata Nexon EV which is Rs 6.5 Lakhs more than the petrol variant you have to run your Electric car for at least 1,30,000 km then only you will get the profit of your electric car.

EV vs. Petrol Summary

If your vehicle runs at approx 10,000 km in a year so after buying a Tata Nexon EV car you would have to wait at least 13 years to get the profit of your Electric car. So my suggestion is if your yearly running is approx 10,000 km then buy a Tata Nexon Petrol variant.

Still, if you want to buy an Electric car like a Tata Nexon EV, make sure your yearly running should be 20 to 25 thousand km per year to use your car profitably.
